Management of the court’s caseload is depicted in the chart titled, "Civil Division Case Management Timeline."
After a case is filed, it is screened to ensure that a proper state agency has been named (a listing of agencies is posted on this web site), and an inquiry is sent to the plaintiff to identify for the court any other claims or court cases that may be related to the case just filed.
A trial order is then sent to the parties that includes, among other things, dates for status/settlement conference, pretrial conference and trial. Trial is held normally within a year and a written decision follows as soon as practical thereafter.
